How to Change Your Oil During a Pandemic

Car maintence is still important during a pandemic. Since many places where car owners can get their oil changed are closed, we thought we would give you a quick tutorial on how to do it yourself.



1. Choosing Your Oil

Check the Owners Manual for your vehicle to determine what oil and oil filter you require.

2. Pepareing Your Work Area

The car must be level for an oil change.

3. Where to Place the Drain Pan

Place the drain pan under the drain plug

4. Drain the Oil

Remove the drain oil plug, and allow the oil to drain out until it slows to a drip.

5. Replacing the Filter

Remove the oil filter cap and unscrew the oil filter. Screw the new filter into place where you reomved the old one.

6. Replacing the Drain Plug

Add a new replacement washer onto the drain plug if needed, and screw the drain plug back into place.

7. Adding new oil

Pour the new oil into the vehicle, and check the oil level after to make sure that the correct amount of oil was added.

8. Clean up

Clean up any mess left, and the process is complete.
